Χασάπικο Chasapiko 4/4 Slow

Dancing the Chasapiko (c) datafox

The most simple rhythm. This is the thing widely known as "Sirtaki". Play heavily and slowly. A real chasapiko doesn't increase in speed! The chasapiko dance is slow and melancholic. Usually it is danced by two or more people (mostly men), who grab their shoulders to form a line and show off their skillful jumps and turns- in perfect sync. This is the dance the well known "Sirtaki" is based upon. The chasapiko comes from minor asia. There is no such thing like an authentic sirtaki dance in Greek music.
