Facts about my Greek music collection
- I have been collecting Greek music for more than 20 years. It all started with one single cassette (still existing as a file) and grew into dozens of gigabytes of mp3 music.
- Two thirds (62%) of my music collection is Greek music. Other prominent languages are Hebrew (19%) and English (12%).
- 21% of my pop and rock music are sung in Greek, more than half being sung in English.
- Two thirds of my Greek music collection are modern Laika songs, while older songs - the most valuable part of the collection - make up 9% of my Greek music.
- The artist with the highest number of titles is Stelios Kazantzidis, followed by Giorgos Dalaras.
- The artist with the highest average rating is Antique (Elena Paparizou).
- 3% of the songs are rated "favorites".
- The Zembekiko is the most popular rhythm (dance) throughout my collection. 20% of all songs are Zembekika.
- 13% of the songs are slow ballads. Less than 2% of the top rated songs are slow.
- 82% of Greek music are performed in minor scale, while one quarter of the top rated song are major scale.
- About a quarter of all my Greek music is performed in an odd beat (5/4, 7/8, 9/8, 11/8), while odd beat songs make up one third of the top rated songs and only 18% of the lower rated ones.
